Tämänhetkisessä työskentelyssäni minua kiinnostavat valokuviin liitettävät oletukset. Olen pähkäillyt syitä valokuviin kohdistuville kysymyksille sekä selvittänyt valokuvan historiallisia ja nykyisiä käyttötapoja sekä sitä, kuinka nämä ovat muovanneet käsityksiämme niistä. Valokuvaa tutkimalla yritän lähestyä sitä uudelleen monesta eri suunnasta.

Koen valokuvaamisen usein vaivattomana tekona. Kaikki ympärilläni on käytettävissä, pitää vain osata valita. Katseeni sinkoaa paikasta toiseen, silmäni saavat liikkua vapaasti, ne kykenevät näkemään asian objektina mutta myös muotona. Yritän valokuvillani ilmaista vapautta ja käyttää niitä yhtä vapaasti. Murran valokuvan avulla ympäristöstäni itselleni paloja, vailla kokonaisuutta pyrin sijoittamaan ne uudelleen. Liikun töissäni fiktiivisen ja todellisen välillä, ja taltioin useimmiten ympäriltäni niitä asioita, jotka vievät minut hetkellisesti toisaalle.

In my current work I am interested in the assumptions photography contains. I have been pondering around the reasons for the questions photography brings with itself, and I have been looking for answers in how photography has been used historically, how it is used today and how this has shaped our perceptions about it. By studying different photography theories and by trying to approach it from different angles I hope to find something new.

I often experience photographing as effortless work, everything around me is available. I just have to be able to make a choice. My sight wanders around, my eyes are free, they can see something as an object, and then as a design. I try to convey the same freedom in my images and use them as freely. With photography I crack pieces from my surroundings, they exist alone and I try to replace them again. In my work I move between the fictional and the reality, and most often I capture things that take me momentarily to another place.
