ESITTELY

Olen Sanni Sormunen, videotaiteilija ja valokuvaaja. Kameran avulla pysähdyn tarkastelemaan ja keskityn tutkimaan jotakin, joka häiritsee tai josta haluan oppia. Se on tapani etsiä syvempää ymmärrystä sekä rakentaa yhteyttä ympäristööni ja ihmisiin. Työni ytimessä on herkkyys ja lämmin hyväksyntä sekä uteliaisuus ja leikkisyys.

Videoteokseni käsittelee menetystä ja poissaolevan läsnäoloa. Sanotaan, että joku loistaa poissaolollaan. Jokin kiinnittää huomion juuri siksi, että se ei ole paikalla ja on läsnä siinä tyhjyydessä, jota se ei täytä.

I am Sanni Sormunen, a video artist and photographer. With camera, I slow down to observe and focus on exploring something that disturbs me or that I want to learn from. It is my way of seeking deeper understanding and building a connection with my environment and people. At the core of my work is sensitivity and warm acceptance, as well as curiosity and playfulness.

My video work deals with loss and the presence of the absent. It is said that someone is conspicious by its absence. Something draws attention because it is not where you think it should be and is present in the emptiness that it doesn’t fill.
