I’ve loved Ridge my entire life. We’ve moved heaven and earth to try to be together. And it’s going to happen for us. It has to.
— Brooke Logan

Taidehistoria, japanilainen populaarikulttuuri, digitaalisuus ja mehukkaat saippuasarjat kietoutuvat taiteessani yhteen. Todellista ja fiktiota yhdistelevissä teoksissa korkeakulttuurin rajat häilyvät populaarikulttuurin vahvojen vaikutteiden seurauksena.

Tärkeäksi elementiksi on muodostunut jo olemassa olevan kuvaston hyödyntäminen. Kuvan sovittaminen osaksi omaa taideteosta muodostaa tulkinnallista kerroksellisuutta. Teokseen muodostuu dialogi lähtökohdan ja lopputuloksen välille.

Työskentelen pääsääntöisesti serigrafialla. Vanhentunut painotuotannon hylkäämä tekniikka on kaikessa rajallisuudessaan minua taidegraafikkona kiehtova media.

The last four years have flown by. Although I have not experienced this mode of traveling except when sitting in an airplane, I believe it is one of the fastest forms of traveling on our planet. These years, already faded into eternity, I have primarily used to perceive my own artistry.

In my artistic process, I bind together elements of art history, Japanese pop culture, juicy soap operas and digitalisation. My work combines fact and fiction, blurring the line between high culture and pop culture. A key element in my work is the incorporation of found footage and existing images, a method which creates a dialogue between the starting point and the end result.

For some time now, I have developed silk screen printing as my main artistic media. Despite all its limitations as an outdated printing method, it is still fascinating to me as a contemporary printmaker. In this peak of digitalisation, silk screening enables me to bring pictures from all of the monitors into reality through a physical act. The colour printed through silk imitates photographs and pixels reflected on computer screens. Data isn’t only a file or queue of numbers anymore, but becomes a real and touchable matter. I use CMYK colors layered over each other on paper to create a halftone, which gives the eye an illusion of a million colors unifying together. In all of its simplicity, this intrigues me. The physical process towards a finished silk screen print doesn’t often vary, but in the end every print becomes something completely new.
