Olen analogisen valokuvan liepeillä viihtyvä kuvataiteilija. Työskentelyssäni valokuvan käsityöläistraditio yhdistyy pyrkimykseen nähdä usein pysähtyneeksi mielletty valokuva liikehtivänä, aktiivisena ja jatkuvasti muuntuvana esityksenä. Ajatteluni ja työskentelyni koen tapahtuvan kuvan valotuksen hetken ja sen fyysisen representaation välisessä tilassa. Tässä tilassa tapahtuvat konkreettinen pimiötyöskentely – muun muassa filmin kehittäminen ja valokuvien vedostaminen. Se on myös henkilökohtainen, kuvitteellinen ja käsitteellinen tila, jossa voin seurata valon kulkua ja toimijuutta eri valokuvamateriaaleissa ja inspiroitua ja vaikuttua sen muuta materiaa muuntavasta voimasta.

Viimeisimmät työni diaprojektorien parissa ovat johdattaneet minut tarkastelemaan kuvapinnan edessä ja takana tapahtuvia valosyöksyjä, joksikin vasta tulevia suihkuvirtauksia ja lopulta pimeydeksi liudentuvia representaatioita.

I am an artist wandering on the periphery of analog photography. My interest is to bring together the craftmanship of photography and an effort to see the often static photograph as a fluid, active and ever changing being. I see my work taking place in the space between the moment of exposure and the physical picture surface. This is a space for actual darkroom work – developing film or printing. But it is also a personal, fictional and conceptual space where I can follow the flow and agency of light in different photographic materials and become inspired and influenced by its power to transform matter. 

My recent work with slide projectors has encouraged me to pause on gushes and sprays of light before and after the surface of a photograph – photons in the process of becoming and images dissolving into the dark.
